Great August Stream: Update

Yeah, I’m not watching Free State of Jones. I’d rather read the Wikipedia article. It just looked like another white savior movie, and I’ve already seen it a buncha times. (Newton Knight was not a white savior, but that’s another post entirely.) Maybe some day I’ll do some real research on Newton Knight and tell his tale here or in my Substack/Newsletter.

For now, consider this your update that this grand binge-watch won’t feature as many films as heretofore planned.

See, I’ve realized something. I can read comics all day, every day. But movies? I need time to digest. I can’t binge movies, day after day. I don’t enjoy them that way. I need a break.

So here are the movies I’m going to watch to round out August. They’re a combination of HBOMax and Netflix. I think you’ll like the reviews when they go up.

Skipping The 39 Steps since, according to one of my friends, it’s basically the same plot as North by Northwest, only the latter is a better film. Fair enough. I’ll watch that one instead, eventually.

So that’s ten films in twenty days. That’s more doable.

In other news, I’m going to the movie theater on Wednesday to see Suicide Squad and Friday (maybe) to see The Green Knight. Reviews on those will go up soon.
